Do you remember the Chocolate Rush in Alaska in 1902?

Soapy Smith realized...
A chocolate bar is worth more than a bar of gold

If I had a chocolate every time I thought of you, I'd have a butt the size of Texas

CHOCOLATE IS DESTINY

You will only pass this way once...
So grab the chocolate before the next quilter does...

At the bottom of the page is the last of Elspeth's Letters.

In Elspeth's letters to her friend she describes her journey from Valdez to Fairbanks in Alaska. While along the way she is making a quilt with blocks representing some of the sights she and her new husband William encounter.

Can you figure out what blocks she puts into her quilt?

Your Quilting Mission (not-Impossible) is to find the blocks Elspeth has described in each letter (the blocks may not be on the same page) and put them in the right order on the form below.

Throughout our pages are 40 numbered quilt blocks.

Below is a layout for Elspeth's quilt. Starting in the upper left corner and going from left to right put the numbers for Elspeth's quilt blocks into the right spaces.
When you think you have it laid out, email the solution to us and we will let you know if you are winner.
If your solution is correct, send us a self-addressed stamped envelope and we will send you a special prize and a coupon you can use in towards a purchase from our web site.
Or, visit our shop in Delta Junction Alaska and double the value of your coupon on a purchase.

The blocks Elspeth describes in her letters are also scattered through the web sit.
Some pages only have one block. Others have more than one block per page.

Limit of one per player per quilt

(Note: This Mystery quilt game originated at the Forget-Me-Knot Quilter's Guild SPRING FLING Quilting Retreat in April 1998. Check the Forget-Me-Knot Walter's Guild page for more information about upcoming retreats and other quilting fun!)

(Note 2: These letters were not actually written by Elspeth, they were written by Dawn and Peggy. They worked for several evenings in the spring of '98. Dawn was the artist.)

The End of the Trail...
Fairbanks and the Gold Fields

Dear Friend,

We have arrived! Fairbanks! It has been a long journey to our new life. Today I finished my last block. I have twenty now which will make a wonderful quilt. Once we have staked and established our claim I hope to have time to join the squares and begin the quilting. There will be much work to do, but never were two hands more happy in their work. Now on to our search for the golden nugget.

Farewell for now dear friend,

      Elspeth
