Stuff from the Archives
Elspeth's Alaskan Adventures quilt book & other things
(first of
ACQC Quilt Books)
For the first ACQC Quilt book... what are the names of each block
on the web site and the key to the order in the quilt. and the directions
to making it?
Elspeth's history & future generations
Also need more about her history. Does
she really have some Algonquin or other Amerindian heritage? Was she
a "Purple legged woman" ?
i.e. an Alaskan Pioneer woman who tried to maintain Paris like fashion
in the face of Alaska's bitter winter cold for her man?
Or who was Elspeth's
daughter... b. 1920s who was a young woman in the WW II years in Fairbanks
who wore 1940s style clothes ... the height of Betty Grable "it
Girl" and her daughter... Elspeth's' grand daughter b. 1944, who
was a long legged, fine young thing in her early 30's in the 195o's era-
who was NOT a lady of the evening... but did work in a bank in Fairbanks
in 1975... and with her fine legs and curious figure.... once in a trip
to Spain some Spanish cop said " Mira! Mira! "in Spanish...Look!
Look! Look at hose fine legs!"... any way... this grand daughter
was one of the "purple Legged Women" who braved the Fairbanks
cold to make a statement for all womanhood!
Elspeth's Alaskan
Native Beadwork Quilt
Also for the Baltimore Album Quilt the Elspeth made in the Alaskan Native
Beadwork style with Alaskan Wildflowers... what is the symbolism of each
of the 12 blocks she made.
